The ABC Trek, also known as the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, is a well-known trek in Nepal that offers a moderate level of difficulty. Compared to other high-altitude treks, it is shorter and easier, making it accessible to any fit person with a bit of determination.

During this trek, you will traverse a diverse terrain, get a glimpse of the traditional highland culture, and experience different climates. You will also be treated to breathtaking views of the Annapurna range, Macchapuchhre, Hiunchuli, and Dhaulagiri.

The trek gets its name from the fact that it passes through the Annapurna Conservation Area, which is home to diverse flora, fauna, and ethnic Gurung and Magar villages. The region is surrounded by the Annapurna ranges, and because of its unique terrain, it boasts a flourishing Himalayan ecosystem with drier areas. The region also has charming Thakali villages nestled at the foothills of the Annapurna range.

As you trek, you will witness terraced paddy farms, dense pine and bamboo forests, and experience tranquility that is a stark contrast to the bustle of city life.

Your journey to the ABC Trek starts with an early bus ride from Kathmandu to Pokhara, the tourist capital of Nepal. Pokhara is known for its beautiful lakes and stunning mountain views, and you are sure to be impressed.

On the second day, the real trekking begins with a drive from Pokhara via Birethanti to Tikhedhunga. You will pass through paddy fields along the Modi River and reach Ulleri, your destination for the day.

The following day’s trek will take you to Ghorepani, which offers awe-inspiring views of Annapurna massifs, Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, Dhampas, Nilgiri, Barash Sikhar, and Machhapuchre (Fishtail).

The fourth day is special as you will reach the famous Poon Hill viewpoint to catch the sunrise over the Annapurna ranges. You will then head to Tadapani for the night.

From Tadapani, you will trek to Chomrong and spend the night there. The next morning, you will set out for Himalayas, which is your stop for the night.

On the seventh day, you will finally reach the Base Camp, where you will be treated to breathtaking views of glaciers, mountain ranges, and much more. You will spend the night at the Base Camp.
