Annapurna Base Camp Trek Cost 2025 — Full Budget Guide

By AJ 8 min read

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is one of Nepal's three most popular trekking routes — an 11-day journey to the Annapurna Sanctuary at 4,130m, surrounded by 13 peaks above 6,000m. Understanding the full cost before booking prevents surprises. Here is the complete 2025 breakdown.

All-Inclusive Guided Package (2025)

Our ABC guided packages include guide, porter, accommodation, all meals, permits, and in-country transport:

  • Solo private: USD 1,290 per person
  • Group of 2–3: USD 990 per person
  • Group of 4–7: USD 890 per person
  • Group of 8–12: USD 790 per person

Full inclusions list on the ABC Trek page.

What Drives the Cost

The five largest cost components for any Nepal trek — and what they cost on the ABC route specifically:

1. Permits (fixed cost)

  • ACAP: NPR 3,000 (~USD 23)
  • TIMS: NPR 2,000 (~USD 15)
  • Total: USD 38 per person — included in all our packages

2. Accommodation (variable)

Tea houses along the ABC trail range from NPR 300–2,000 (USD 2–15) per night depending on location and comfort level. Ghorepani, Tadapani, and Chhomrong have the best tea houses (comfortable rooms, good food, some en-suite). Inside the Sanctuary (MBC and ABC), accommodation is more basic — shared facilities, basic menus. Expect to pay a room supplement for en-suite options in the lower villages.

3. Food (variable)

Typical daily food cost on the ABC route: USD 15–22 for three meals and hot drinks. Key point: prices increase above Chhomrong. The Sanctuary tea houses have higher prices due to the cost of supply by porter. Budget USD 18–25/day for full meals inside the Sanctuary.

4. Guide and Porter Fees

A TAAN Class A guide costs USD 25–35 per day. One porter per two trekkers costs USD 18–25 per day. For an 11-day trek with 1–2 days Pokhara: guide total USD 325–455; porter (per 2 trekkers) USD 234–325. These costs are included in our packages.

5. Transport

  • Kathmandu to Pokhara (flight): USD 90–120 — included in our packages
  • Pokhara to Nayapul (trailhead by private jeep): USD 8–12 per person — included
  • Nayapul to Pokhara (return): same cost — included

Additional Costs to Budget For

Personal costs not included in guided packages:

  • Hot showers: NPR 200–500 (USD 1.50–4) depending on altitude
  • Phone/camera charging: NPR 100–300 (USD 0.75–2.50) per device
  • WiFi: NPR 200–500 (USD 1.50–4) per session
  • Snacks and bottled drinks: USD 3–8 per day
  • Guide and porter tips: USD 80–120 per trekker total (recommended)

Budget approximately USD 150–200 extra for personal expenses over 11 days.

Nepal Visa Cost

Most nationalities require a visa on arrival at Kathmandu airport:

  • 15-day single entry: USD 30
  • 30-day single entry: USD 50
  • 90-day multiple entry: USD 125

The 30-day visa is sufficient for most ABC trek itineraries including Kathmandu and Pokhara days.

How to Reduce Costs

If budget is a constraint: travel in a group of 4+ (our lowest per-person rates), travel in spring (March–May) rather than October (slightly lower accommodation costs outside peak season), and limit bottled drinks (use purification — we always carry it).
