Mardi Himal Trek Cost 2025 — Complete Budget Breakdown

By AJ 7 min read

The Mardi Himal Trek is one of the Annapurna region's best-value high-altitude treks — 7 days to High Camp (4,500m) with close-up views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain) and far fewer trekkers than ABC or Poon Hill. Here is the complete 2025 cost breakdown.

All-Inclusive Guided Package Cost (2025)

Our Mardi Himal guided packages — which include guide, porter, accommodation, all meals, permits, and transport — are priced as follows:

  • Solo private: USD 990 per person
  • Group of 2–3: USD 790 per person
  • Group of 4–7: USD 690 per person
  • Group of 8–12: USD 620 per person

See the full Mardi Himal Trek page for what is included.

Permits and Entry Fees (2025)

Two permits are required — both arranged by us as part of every package:

  • Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP): NPR 3,000 (~USD 23)
  • TIMS Card: NPR 2,000 (~USD 15)

Total: approximately USD 38 per person. These fees fund conservation work in the Annapurna Conservation Area.

Accommodation Costs

Tea houses on the Mardi Himal route are smaller and more basic than those on the main ABC trail — this is part of the route's appeal (fewer crowds, personal service), but it means fewer choices at each stop. Typical costs:

  • Forest Camp to High Camp: NPR 400–800 (USD 3–6) per person per night, twin-share
  • Pokhara hotel (included in our package): 3-star lakeside hotel, breakfast included

Room costs on Mardi Himal are generally kept low because lodges compete for the small number of trekkers — tea houses often include room at no charge when you eat your meals there.

Food Costs

Prices increase with altitude on any Nepal trek. Mardi Himal food costs approximately:

  • Breakfast: NPR 300–500 (USD 2.50–4)
  • Lunch: NPR 500–800 (USD 4–6)
  • Dinner: NPR 600–900 (USD 5–7)

Dal bhat is always the best-value meal — unlimited refills and nutritionally perfect for trekking. Budget USD 12–18 per day for full meals and hot drinks.

Guide and Porter Fees

Our Mardi Himal packages include a TAAN-certified guide and one porter per two trekkers. If hiring independently: guides cost USD 25–35 per day, porters USD 18–25 per day. For 7 trekking days plus Pokhara days, independent hiring costs approximately USD 280–420 for guide only.

The Mardi Himal route is newer (developed since 2012) and some sections are less clearly marked than the main Annapurna trails. A guide is strongly recommended for first-time trekkers on this route.

Transport Costs

  • Kathmandu to Pokhara (flight): USD 90–120 per person — included in our packages
  • Pokhara to Kande (trailhead): NPR 800–1,200 by private vehicle — included
  • Sidhing to Pokhara (return): NPR 1,000–1,500 — included

Independent Trekker Budget (2025)

If trekking independently without a guide or package:

  • Permits: USD 38
  • 7 nights accommodation: USD 25–50 total
  • 7 days food: USD 80–125 total
  • Transport: USD 30–50
  • Total independent budget: USD 200–265 (plus guide if hired separately)
